So we've got some big news, some bigger news, some even bigger news and some HUGE news.

The big news is that we're going to be invading New York soon for the CMJ Music Festival. We'll be playing an acoustic set at the Polo Rugby Store on October 22nd @ 3:00 PM for FREE (99 University Place, NYC).

We'll be rocking the FREE Indaba Music Party at Crash Manison (199 Bowery, NYC) on the 23rd at 2:00 PM, followed by our first official CMJ Zune Show later that night @ Bowery Ballroom (6 Delancey St, NYC - BUY TIX HERE http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/00004142B88A7829?artistid=1262752&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=1

with Janelle Monae and more at 8:00PM...and our 2nd Official CMJ Show on the 24th at the brand new The Studio@Webster Hall at 9:00 PM(125 East 11th Street). And that one is also FREE.

The EVEN BIGGER news is that on November 11th (aka 11/11, or El Dia De Los Onces), Chester French (that's us) will be releasing our EP to digital stores (and will be releasing to actual, real life stores on the 18th). We have something pretty sweet to share with you today; Omar Dominick, our bass player extraordinaire, did an interview with British blog Petite Anglaise. Check it out:

Petite Anglaise: So how did you start out playing with Chester French?

Omar Dominick: My Brother was touring with [Kenna] and while he was on the tour [with them] he met Max and D.A. [Chester French] in February.
D.A. called my brother to put a band together for their upcoming [tour] dates and my brother told me about it.

Petite Anglaise: Who were you performing with before then?

Omar Dominick: Before then I was [performing] with Amerie and before that local [Philadelphia] artist.

Petite Anglaise: You recently finished touring with N.E.R.D how was that?

Omar Dominick: Awh Man...N.E.R.D passes on their energy and it's like the energy their crowd puts forth, like you were their that night and it's just amazing how their performance and even backstage their just really positive guys.

Petite Anglaise: Okay final question, personally what do you think is the hottest product out their right now, can be either fashion, technology, anything?

Omar Dominick: As far as fashion, I'm into everything being a sense of individuality. Like I'm not really into wearing what everyone else is into or whatever, like if your doing your own thing I like that better then wearing the same sneaks or whatever. But right now everyone's rocking BBC and Ice Creams which is really hot because while we were in London I thought only they [British N.E.R.D fans] were rocking it but I got back to Philly and people are rocking it to.

Petite Anglaise: Okay are they paying you for that endorsement?

Omar Dominick: What..no no.. it's just nice to see something branch out like that you know from London back to Philly. It's cool

Petite Anglaise: Okay..what about kicks, how do you feel about sneakers and all that hype.

Omar Dominick: Like I love Nike's and Adidas but I'm not really into the whole craze. Like I'd like to be a leader not a follower [when it comes to fashion] so I'm not really with that whole scene."

Omar is, indeed, an incredibly down to Earth dude, as any of you guys who've had the pleasure to chat with him after a show can attest to.

Chester French Play The Box, NY! | News

So before we went over to the UK, we played a secret show at the ultra-exclusive NYC venue "The Box." The place is an ill throwback to cabaret clubs from the roaring 20s. The acoustic set went well and it was an awesome and hilarious show.

Thanks to everyone who has sent in their responses to the "Friends of C. French" questionnaire. It's awesome to be able to get to know you guys a bit better and, more importantly, for you guys to reach out to each other. That's what the net is for. Well, that and p0rn.

On the first "episode" of "Friends of C. French," we present to you Neal AKA Mixtape Monster.

Chester French: When did you first hear about chester french?
Neal: To tell you the truth, I can't remember where I heard of Chester French. I think I came across one of y'alls songs on a random blog or something and I thought it was super hot. I been putting my friends on C-French ever since.

CF: What's your favorite song and why?
N: I think my fave song has gotta be "Fall Back"....I mean damn, KWELI and C-French. Do I really got to explain why that shit is hot? Anyone that needs an explanation on that one should have one of their ears, if not both, Van Gogh-ed.

CF:What other bands do you like?
N: Other groups I'm feeling these days are of course N*E*R*D and Kenna, as well as Little Brother (y'all should hook up with them, I know Phonte could drop some knowledge on cats over a Chester French breakbeat) or pretty much any hip hop cats in the Hall Of Justus. That's how we do it down here in North Cack.

CF: Tell us about yourself, outside of digging Chester French?
N: Me? Shiiiiiiiiit [(c) Clay Davis], just a hip hop and music head who also likes basketball. Alum of the great UNC, so you know I love the college basketball. Also like to post musings, videos, music, and funny stories on my blog. Actually I've posted a few C-French things before and you guys linked my blog in a message. Props for that, much appreciated.

On July 1st, we're playing at the iTunes Fest at Koko, with N.E.R.D.

What up folks;

Not much that we can report on today. We're working on mixing the album right now. It's sounding incredible... but we won't say any more just yet.

But we wanted to write to tell you about a pair of artists currently on tour that you really, really have to check out.

First up is Erykah Badu. The rumors are true, folks... this is one of the most incredible shows out right now. The tickets are going for hefty prices, but it's a show that you should definitely see if you can. We'll quote "The New Yorker's" Sasha Frere Jones here:

"Instead of saying that Badu's performance will not be bettered any time soon (though it won't), I'll say that her show gave everyone in the house serious bragging rights. Dylan in 1965, Metallica in 1985, Bad Brains in 1981—it was one of those points on the arc. If you want to know who is at her peak, who is both of her moment and channelling so many forces that her work spills out over the edges of history and stops time, that's Erykah Badu in 2008."

Yes. Absolutely. The show was incredible. Go see it while you can.

A less known but also awesome performer that DA was able to check out recently was Bilal. You might not know his name, but if you've heard Talib's "Waitin for the DJ" or Common's "Like Water For Chocolate" album, you know his incredible voice.

Dude puts on an odd but pretty awesome show and he's also touring. Check out his Myspace to check out his solo work.

Chester French Featured On Concrete Loop! | News

Hey everyone;

We were pleasantly surprised when we woke up this morning and saw an awesome mention on one of our favorite sites, Concrete Loop.

We'll quote Brian from CL: "Meet D.A. Wallach and Maxwell Drummey, who make up the duo, Chester French. These two Harvard graduates wrote, arranged, produced and engineered their album, tentatively titled Love the Future in their dorm's basement. Last December, their demo found its way around the industry and got them attracting offers from heavyweights like Kanye West, Jermaine Dupri, Pharrell Williams and Jimmy Iovine.

Naming their band after sculptor Daniel Chester French, who designed the statue at the Lincoln Memorial, the boys were signed to Pharrell's Star Trak Music, via Interscope. Just last May, D.A. and Max completed recording and their degrees, in African American Studies and Social Anthropology, respectively. They've both since relocated to LA to put the finishing touches on their debut album, due out this year.

I've known about the guys for a while now and I definitely am digging their sound and I absolutely love their story. Pharrell better do these boys justice.

Make sure you show Chester French some CL love on their MySpace page, if you're digging what you've heard."

In addition to the awesome post, Brian also shared "She Loves Everybody" with the CL readers. And to our delight, it seems (judging from the comments on CL) like a lot of them really dig the music!

New Features + Video | News

As we hinted at last week, we've been getting a lot of great messages on loads of blogs. So let's kick off this blog roll post haste...

One of our favorite magazines, Giant Magazine (the fine periodical that happened to bless the world with this image), featured us in their list of "5 Songs That Don't Suck". "She Loves Everybody" shares webspace with Barry Adamson's "Walk on Fire," Hot Rod & Tila Tequila's "I Like To Fuck," Low vs. Diamond's "Hear Attack," Tim William's "Fly With Me" and Uh Huh Her's "Covered." We know that's a total of 6 songs. Not sure what the deal is, but who's complaining?!

Kathy Iandoli over at All Hip Hop (one of our favorite hip hop sites on the net, period) wrote a great article about the 10th anniversary of Lauryn Hill's "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" and, hey, wait, is that a quote from DA Wallach in there? Why yes it is: "Lauryn Hill is probably my favorite singer of the past 20 or 30 years. The album was really great, and it was cool that it had such tremendous public success."

Did you catch that interview our boss did with LA Metromix? Mr. Pharrell Williams gave us an unbelievably humbling nod: '"I think Chester French are geniuses. To me, they sound like Brian Wilson singing over Motown tracks," Williams enthuses about the recent Harvard graduates. "We're so lucky to have them on our label."' A couple other blogs, like Life Lounge, picked up the story as well.

Big ups to Madame Lamb, a super ill art/pop/technology/fashion/culture/music (phew) blog gave us a sweet mention, introducing their readers to us and sharing "Jimmy Choos." Perusing the front page of ML, we came across two hilarious old school pictures of Al Pacino (one which features an old school Deniro). Dudes had some swagger back then. Thanks, Modern Lamb, for reminding us.

Along the same lines, thank you Yellow Rebel: The Blog for sharing some of our music with your listeners. We really dug your coverage of the Janelle Monae Highline Ballroom show, which DA attended. It was a great show and it's sick that people who weren't there can experience the awesomeness as well. Wow, the internet is pretty sweet. Duh.

Our good friends over at the BBC/Ice Cream blog posted some videos of our various LA performances, as did The Boys Blog and our buddies over at the Neptune s.org.

We came across a cool post on this guy Mitch's blog where the guy said we had balls. Well, thank you Mitch. Might we add that you have balls as well? But hey, if you're gonna rip songs off our myspace, maybe don't blog about it? Haaaa...

We played a fun little show at our friend Matt Kozlov's place and iancr over at Fistfulayen did a cool post about it. Fistfulayen is one of our favorite blogs, so we were honored to make our debut. Also, Lucinda is our new keyboard player (sorry Tyler!)

Did you watch the NewNowNext Awards? We hope you did, seeing as we were up for an award. But if you missed it, our great friend Arjan over at Arjan Writes posted a recap with some footage from the show.

PinBoard did an interview with a buddy of ours, the rapper Mickey Factz who gave us a great nod in his list of favorite artists ("I'm listening to Jonell Monae, Chester French, Estelle, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lupe Fiasco" wow, great company). Thanks, Mickey and PinBoard!

Also, one of our best friends, Mr. Ko Yada, blogged about eating sushi with DA. Ko!

A Material World, an LA-based fashion blog, gave us a great little mention right before the Viper show. It's a neat blog and we particularly loved the post about Granny Style coming back into fashion. Which would be, by the way, preposterous if that were true.

Secret Still gave us a mention in their "things that aren't big enough to warrant their own post" post. Hey! We warrant our own post. We think. But thanks for sharing us with your readers and mentioning that we're "pretty good" (we'll pretend you didn't call our pictures "douchebagesque").

The folks over at Apex Exposure did a nice post on us, telling their readers we're the perfect antidote for a "gross weather-induced coma." Which, shockingly enough, we've heard before. You head it here first: Chester French cures all comas.

Elementz004 posted a note on their blog saying they want the album to drop. We know how you feel! But we're working hard, our noses to the grindstone to make that a reality.

Chaseology gave us a great nod, comparing our stuff to the Beach Boys and Weezer (two of our favorite artists). We also LOVE your co verage of Janelle Monae's performance at the Apple Store. Sweet pictures and it sounds like a fun show.

Acerbic Bubblegum included us in their coverage of Ivy League rock. "D.A. Wallach and Maxwell Drummery have found themselves in interesting territory without even releasing an album. Their first, tentatively titled "Love the Future" hasn't even hit the shelves yet and these guys have already garnered acclaim from Rolling Stone and others, as one of the artists to watch in 2008. Their eclectic sound constantly evolves which each new track that comes out and their sound is downright addictive. At this point I think their hardest test will be to see if they can live in L.A. and continue to create great music without losing themselves in some over-hyped rock wasteland. Hopefully they make it through and if their hilarious interviews are any indication, these guys will be huge." We certainly hope so.

You've been compared to the Beach Boys. You OK with that? People don't realize but our music comes from a long tradition of Christian Rock. Testifying truth to power. [But seriously,] we like the Beach Boys … We listen to everything, our songs are diverse.

What's with this preppy, summer in Nantucket look you've got going? We weren't super conscious of our image at the beginning; we were just trying to dress nicely for pictures. We want to be stylish, obviously, but we were the guys at Harvard who didn't fit in. We weren't in final clubs, weren't on investment banking tracks. It looks ridiculous if you dress hip-hop or try to do the rock star thing. In L.A., you know exactly who is in a rock band. They're wearing leather jackets.

You've been called out for the disparity between your live performances and your studio work. What's your response? Why would you want the live shit to sound like a record studio? We've always wanted our live shows to be different than our studio songs. We want it to be looser, more organic, and more spontaneous, a little more fun and little wilder.

How did you get your early songs to Kanye West's manager? We just used the Internet to find people who were loosely connected to more important people. We tried a lot of the indie crowd, but they didn't respond to us. We thought Kanye would like us. We listen to all sorts of shit and have a wide range of sensibilities, just like Kanye.

You partied with Perez Hilton in Austin, what's he like? He's a great, funny guy. He's gonna support us so we like that.

Did one of you grow up part-time in the Caribbean? Yeah, D.A. here. I'm from Wisconsin, but we have a family place in Nevis. My parents are divorced, but they saved up to buy this place before the divorce. It's a convoluted story.

In L.A., do people roll their eyes when you tell them you went to Harvard? I roll my eyes at Harvard because a lot of people there are assholes. But the main thing it's done is that it's made everyone know that we are super-geniuses and we're not to be fucked with. When you go into a meeting and everyone knows that you're smarter than they are, then they shut up and let you do the talking."

Chester French Works With Common | News

We'll quote Billboard Magazine here:

"A special eight-song preview last night (April 29) reveals that Common's upcoming eighth album, "Invincible Summer," is shaping up to be an electro-tinged departure from the MC's previous lyric-driven albums.

"I created this music for the summer time, it's about feeling good," Common tells Billboard.com. "This is the type of music I felt was missing from my body of work."

"Invincible Summer," which Common has been hard at work on for the last two months, is tentatively scheduled for mid-July. The high-energy track "Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.)" is likely be the first single, due by the end of May. The Neptunes and Outkast producer Mr. DJ produced the album. Kanye West, who helmed the production on Common's last LP, 2007's "Finding Forever," did not contribute any tracks this time around.

"Kanye was focusing on his 'Glow in the Dark' show, so he hasn't been able to make it to the studio to weigh in," Common says. "But it worked out well, organically. The Neptunes & Mr. DJ came up with a fresh sound for me."

Cee-Lo and The Neptunes' pop group, Chester French, guest on the album, but Common says singer-MC Santogold is "one of my favorite artists right now" and adds that he's awaiting a verse from her for the track "Runaway," which draws its guitar riff from Pat Benatar's 'Love Is A Battlefield."

"Invincible" features techno-inspired drums on "Universal Mind Control (U.M.C.)," spongy futuristic chords on "Make My Day" featuring Cee-Lo, and fuzzy kazoos on "Punch Love."

Common will also appear this summer in the June 27 film "Wanted," which co-stars James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman.

"Invincible Summer" comes approximately one year after "Finding Forever," which has sold 549,000 units to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

A Long Overdue Post | News

Hello everyone; This post is long overdue. A bunch of people have been saying really nice things about us and we thought we'd give them (and their blogs) a shout. So here goes...

First and foremost we've got to thank the people at theneptunes.org. They never, ever case to show the love and update their readers on C French news. Make sure to check out the site ASAP.

Also big ups to our friend and design specialist Hollis for giving both us and Johnny Cupcakes a nice little mention on his blog. Hollis is the genius behind the "She Loves Everybody" CD single.

The people at TheMusic.FM gave us a cool double dipped post, first mentioning that we will be in Brooklyn, NY performing this Friday (more on that later) and then swooping in again to share our video of Chad dancing with their readers. Thanks dudes... that IS a sweet video.

David Harris over at Wicked Local gave us a nice write up as well, whipping out the choice "Rolling Stone" quotes while they were at it.

Sit Back And Watch gave us a dope mention and connected the dots between us and Johnny Cupcakes for their readers. They also love the condom package, saying "Tell me that the packaging doesn't go perfect with the title of the track, I dare you. Exactly, you can't because it is!" Well, thank ya'!

The Mixtape Monster awesomely spreads She Loves Everybody to their readers. And we agree with the post: "Chester French is fucking hot, if you ain't heard of them, get up on them." Get up on us, people!

Mr. Wright over at Mr. Wright's Mind came out to the N.E.R.D. show in Jacksonville and liked what he saw. Boo Ya!

The Epidemik Coalition at Standard gave us yet another very dope mention.

Electrophan gave "She Loves Everybody" a cool shout on his Tumblr. "This song is the jam, by the way. These dudes wrote and recorded this album in the basement of their Harvard dorm room. They kind of remind me of an updated version of The Zombies." Awesome.

Heather Browne over at Fuelfriends.blogspot.com also brought up the Zombies in her post, but gave us one of the coolest, most flattering write ups we've seen. "So the story goes that a pair of Harvard boys get bored and decide to record an album in their dorm basement. A lot of things happened in my various dorm basements but nothing that sounded this good; I think it was too dark with those half-lit humming fluorescent lights, the broken foosball tables, and slightly dodgy-looking couches that you knew had some sketch tales to tell. So what did Chester French conjure up there instead? Think robust strings over crisp and sexy beats, some chiming mid '60s guitar. Go traipse on over to their MySpace now and listen to "People" . . . then try and tell me that doesn't make your day significantly better. So pleasing that I've already used it on a mix." WOW. Heather, we love you!

It seems like the Lupe video we filmed got around quite a bit. Both the LupEnd blog and the Lupe Fiasco Show reposted the video. Haaa

Megan over at SometimesMegan listed us as one of the bands that make up her Soundtrack To Summer. We hope everyone will have a little Chester to listen to this summer.

Twentyseven Views also gave us an awesome write up, comparing us to some awesome pop duos and informing their readers of our sound. But we have to point out to them (and a few other bloggers out there who have erroneously made this claim)... the version of "She Loves Everybody" you're hearing is the very same one we recorded in our dorm.

Hey, people over at Trace, we think it's awesome your little sister made you guys listen us. Little sisters know what they're talking about.

"Their sound? Well, think Franz Ferdinand meets The Beatles meets The Beach Boys meets Andre 3000." Those are some flattering words there... thanks to Eclectic Confessions for writing them.

We also made Say Dada!!'s Five Albums of 2008 which is tremendous since our album isn't even out! Sweeet.

We really, really love the post from Marinella over at Guitar Strings & Piano Keys. It seems like she was live blogging when she wrote it or something because first she writes: "anyway, right now im listening to People by Chester French, and its by far my favourite song from this artist. :] the artist sort of has this country vibe, but its quite upbeat and the combination is intriguing and is awesome." Which is dope... But then she posts, later on, "ooh, i just discovered another Chester French song, its called The Jimmy Choo's. yeayeayea, every babe out there wants a pair of Jimmy Choo's. its also an upbeat sort of country song. :DDDD AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH. Baby Got Back. WHAT THE HELL? AHAHA. :PPP i wonder why i clicked on that. AHAHAH. " Haaah, what?! That's awesome.

Uh oh... another correction we gotta issue... we love that WSD It's Tubular mentioned us on their blog but guys... we didn't drop out of school! We graduated.

GQ Photoshoot | News

Hey everyone;

We've got some fun news to share with you. We recently flew to Miami to do a GQ Photoshoot (the article/pictures will be appearing in an issue hitting stands soon... we'll keep you posted).

Now we can't show you pictures from the shoot yet, but the whole situation behind the shoot was so crazy we thought we'd share.

The photos were taken at a huge villa on a private island near Miami Beach. The place was contemporary Mediterranean, which is short hand for fucking awesome.

They brought tons of clothes to the shoot, but shockingly enough, we only sported one outfit for all the pictures.

It's pretty rare that someone's house is so decked out it actually becomes artistically inspiring. This spot was certainly the exception to the rule.

Back From Tour and "Still Not Over You" | News

Well we're back home for a while. We'd like to thank everyone who came out and supported us on the N.E.R.D. tour. It was a blast and you guys made it incredible. Everyone who came out and saw us and didn't get a condom CD, keep sending in shots of your ticket stubs... we'll be coordinating getting you guys copies ASAP.

We're posting something pretty special today. While we were at SXSW we recorded a short acoustic set for MTVu. First off, it came out great. The shots were amazing and the sound was terrific. But we also played a song that only people who've seen us live have heard... it's a track called "Still Not Over You."

She Loves Everybody - Limited Edition | News

Hey everyone;

Those of you who have seen us play know about our special "She Loves Everybody" Limited Edition CD single. But for those of you haven't been able to check us out, we have a pretty awesome Limited Edition version of "She Loves Everybody" which Micah at "The Industry Shakedown" was able to snap a picture of:

As you can see, we package the CD just like a Condom. The wrapper is actually made from the same material that condom wrappers are made with, only bigger.

So far on the tour we've been able to give away a bunch but we have a few more we could give away, so here's the deal... if you scan your ticket stub from the tour and get it to us, we'll try to make sure the powers that be send you your very own "She Loves Everybody" Limited Edition Single too.

For those of you without ticket stubs, we're working on pressing more of these, as they are awesome and you all should have copies.

A couple boys get together while studying at Haaaahvard and make an album, send it around to some bigwigs, and wait. "Once the record was finished, we sent it around to everyone we could get it to. And did that for 9 or 10 months. And, mainly, we walked into closed doors, you know what I mean? No one was interested. And then Kanye, Pharrell, and Jermaine Dupri within about a week and a half all really wanted to do something," says Maxwell Drummey. Read on for my interview with these charmingly sarcastic musical prodigies, and catch 'em on the tour they're about to go on with N.E.R.D. -Holly

ELLEgirl: Has this sudden success freaked you out?
Drummey: You're in the dorm room one day and then you're with Jermaine Dupri in Atlanta.
ELLEgirl: What do your parents think?
D.A.: They're happy - they don't have to pay for us! We're not living with them. Until that happens, they're cool.
ELLEgirl: Did you graduate school?
D.A.: We graduated in June.
ELLEgirl: What were your early influences?
Drummey: A lot of Outkast. Love Outkast. Old stuff too, everything from Les Paul to female singers, Dusty Springfield, Beatles, Led Zepplin, everything we could get our hands on. We both played jazz in high school.
ELLEgirl: How did you get the name? From David Chester French?
D.A.: Yeah, we thought it sounded cool. Almost as cool as we are.
ELLEgirl: Modest, too!
D.A.: I am the most modest guy ever.
ELLEgirl: It can easily go to your head, when you have hip-hop bigwigs -
D.A.l: And also when you're this modest, because you kind of get reminded of how much humbler you are than other people. Even if your grammar isn't perfect.
ELLEgirl: How long did you work on the album?
Drummey: We worked on the album for three years. You listen to a song and it's going to have four or five keyboard parts, guitar, bass, drums, and everything, and there's only two of us.
D.A.: And we didn't know how to record a piano, how to record drums. You make mistakes and it gives it character a lot of times.
ELLEgirl: When you had to finally perform, was it crazy [their first show ever was this week]?
Drummey: Nah, because I can play all the instruments at once. I'm a one man band.
Maxwell: We have a band. We've been a band for a month, with the other guys. We're not over-rehearsed.
ELLEgirl: Are you surprised you have fans?
D.A.: Well, I'm pretty used to everyone loving me everywhere I go, because I'm beautiful, so it's like, it's a blessing and a curse. A beast and a burden. But also a blessing. Noooo, I mean, we're surprised to the extent that we have the ability now to reach a lot of people.
Drummey: I'm surprised that people like our music when we haven't put our album out yet!

We're writing from the road again (as we will be for the next few days). Thanks to everyone coming out to support us... playing for you guys is what makes driving for hours to the gig tolerable. So... thank you!

And now on to a more interesting/fun topic: Chester French in Rolling Stone!

We're one of their seven "Artists to Watch," which is in the issue hitting newsstands this Friday (or today if you're in NYC). We're featured among some amazingly talented artists (Foals, Leona Lewis, Duffy, Playradioplay!, Wale and Does It Offend You, Yeah?) and the article, by Ellen Carpenter, is awesome:

"Job prospects for Ivy league grads being what they are, Harvard alums Maxwell Drummey and D.A. Wallach decided to choose a solid career with a future. "Rock star" sounded promising.

While their classmates were busy interviewing with Goldman Sachs, singer Wallach and multi-instrumentalist Drummey camped out in their dorm's basement studio, recording their demo, Love the Future — a collection of pop songs with Brian Wilson melodies, early-Beck humor and synth beats. "People" celebrates romance with suburban cougars over digital-crisp surf pop; another sunny ode is titled simply "The Jimmy Choo's." "We tried to bring the visceral production elements you find in hip-hop and inject those into really white music," says Wallach.

Confident they'd achieved this fusion, the duo sent their demo to "anyone in the music industry I could find contact info for," says Wallach. It found its way to Kanye West and later to Pharrell Williams, who signed Chester French to his Star Trak imprint last year. When the duo moved to L.A. after graduation, Pharrell advised them to stay focused. "He said, 'Don't get in the scene, don't be Lindsay Lohan. Making music: That's your job right now.' "

As they finish the studio version of their demo for a summer release, the new hirees are touring with N.E.R.D, meeting Busta Rhymes and hanging out with their gym-toned new fans. "Out here, from a physical standpoint, the women are pretty amazing," says Wallach. So far, the company perks aren't bad."

Perez Hilton Announces Chester French Playing His SXSW Showcase!!! | News

Big News, guys! Perez Hilton, a gossip writer who needs no introduction, has featured us on the front page of his site AGAIN! He says:

"They're one of the most buzzed about bands of the moment and we have them for our big concert this Saturday!

Their name is Chester French and you already love them. Cuz they're that good!

They met while studying at Harvard and their retro-ish sounds instantly caught the eye of several music moguls, resulting in an intense bidding war to sign them.

Well, we've got 'em. And they're gonna rock the socks off One Night In Austin!"

He goes on in the post to announce that N.E.R.D. (along with Robyn, Eric Hutchinson, Dragonette, Katy Perry, Riskay and 4 more unnamed artists) will also be playing at his SXSW party! This has to be one the sickest lineups at the festival.

Our Favorite Things: The Band's "The Band" | News

Hey everyone;

Today we're gonna talk about one of our favorite albums--The Band's eponymous album (that means self-titled... now you don't have to look it up).

The Band was a Canadian/American country roots rock group who formed as the backup band for Bob Dylan's 1965 world tour. You may know them from Tom Hanks' tribute to them from this year's Grammy's, you may know them for their song "The Weight" (the "Take A Load Off Annie" song) from their album "Music from Big Pink." Or you may not know them at all.

While we love much of the group's output (including "Music from Big Pink" and their concert film "The Last Waltz"), "The Band" is what we've been vibing on as of late.

Our favorite song on the album is the Civil War-inspired narrative "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." Apparently, we're not the only ones who like the song, as it's on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list and has been covered by Johnny Cash, Joan Baez, Jerry Garcia, The Black Crowes and some German singer named Juliane Werding.

Meet The band, Part 3: Omar On The Bass | News

Omar is Manny's brother, also from Philly. He's all about the sunglasses, and shocks us with a different pair every day. At 18, he's the youngest dude in the band, but has the skills to pay the bills. He used to play marching snare, so he can do all that drumline shit. He's the silent killer of the band.

Meet The Band, Part 2: Tyler Wood on the Keys | News

So now that you've met Manny on da mother effin' drums, it's time to introduce another very special member of the CF family, Tyler Wood. We're especially grateful to have Tyler playing keys for us since he's been a friend and mentor since our freshman year of college (4 years ago). We met Tyler for the first time when we went to record our very first EP in Harvard's on-campus recording studio Quad Sound Studios (bonus points if anyone can name that EP). Tyler had graduated from Harvard in 2001 but was still living around Boston and engineering recording sessions at the studio. He gave us an incredible deal back then and produced and engineered the EP for $300 even though it took him several days. For those of you who have never used a professional recording studio, that's a steal (your favorite stars often spend upwards of 2k a day just to be in a nice studio, and that's before hiring a producer, paying for the nachos, etc). So big ups for Tyler and his insane skills. We asked him to shred some Moog at rehearsal yesterday so that ya'll could get a taste for his swagger on da keyz:

Tyler remained a great friend of ours during college and even came in to play a couple of extra saucy piano parts on the CF album. He currently lives in New York City and makes some wildly creative music on his own, some of which he's got posted at his myspace.

Hey guys;

D.A. took a trip to see his friends Raul and Kevin at m-audio today. For those not in the know, m-audio is a very dope audio equipment company. Having met them through our audio warlock mentor Kevin Lamb, he was coming to check out some secret gear at the showroom and pick up a new keyboard and some monitors that CF is going to be using towards deviant ends in the live show. The m-audio midi-controllers are capable of some crazy shit, so we're eager to dig-in. We got some pixx!

Okay guys... we got the details for most of our SXSW shows. Get your calendars out...

On March 10th, we're playing at the Facebook party. On the 12th, we're playing at the Volume show and on the 15th we'll be blowing up the stage at the Perez Hilton party.

We may have 1 or 2 other surprise shows at the festival as well, so stay tuned.

Anyone who's going to be at SXSW, message us or comment on here so we know to look out for you at the show. Also, keep sending in your ideas for songs for us to Chesterize... we had a blast reading through your suggestions.

Did you guys see the dunk competition this weekend? Wow.

Happy President's day;

We're sooooo close to releasing some concrete details about the big SXSW show (in fact, don't hold us to this, but we hear details are coming TOMORROW). We're grinding extra hard for this show and, if all goes well, will have some very special surprises in store for all of you in attendance. Which, we hope, is many of you.

Speaking of shows with special surprises, Max (and our keys player Tyler) attended our friend Taz Arnold (of Sa-Ra fame)'s show last night at the Henry Ford theater and as you can see in these cell phone pix he snapped, he had some surprises in store for the audience:

Strippers! Taz and his group Sa-Ra are signed to Kanye's GOOD Music and are working on an extra awesome album right now that's coming to your world some time in the '08. Taz has been a big CF supporter and, thanks to his insane connects (literally a quarter of this town knows dude), he's been a world class LA tour guide. So everyone, give Mr. Arnold a Chester-family round of applause. Strippers!

We've got the SXSW show mostly blocked now... but any suggestions for our stage show when eventually do the big tour? We were thinking releasing live hawks, Royal Tenenbaums style but we hear birds don't like loud noises too much.

Guess where we're headed now? To rehearsals! Man, we work hard for your enjoyment! You're welcome!! But seriously, it's a dream come true that we can focus on music all day, every day AND get paid for it. And with that, we're out...

Hey friends,

Hope you had a fun Saturday night (well, as much fun as to be expected without a C. French blog post... we kid, we kid).

As it seems to be the tradition on Sundays, we're going to take some time out to give some thanks and "shout outs" to websites and blogs out there who have been kind enough to spread the word about Chester French.

Mika and the folks at the Neptunes Fan Site continue to share the love and kindly posed the question to their readers we posed to you guys: what song do you want to hear Chesterized? We got some interesting ideas from you guys and they are all duly noted. Here's another question for you... out of the songs of ours you've heard, which one's absence in a concert would make you bummed out?

The blog One Half Amazing included us on a list of Indie Artists Not To Be F*cked With. Which is cool but not quite as cool as being featured on "Eso Es La Bomb Diggity Bomba's" Escucha Esto list. Si, señor, escucha esto ahora! Both sites have featured us on short lists that include songs from a lot of artists we love, so muchas gracias for that.

We also came across a fun little blog post from DJ Chris Coaks (of the blog Love && Dope) which you can see right here. We love being mentioned in the same breath as Kenna, Kanye Consequence and Little Brother, but we're not quite sure we're underground artists (nor are we sure Kanye is between commercial and underground, having one of the highest selling albums of 2007). Although, maybe "underground" means something different in the '08. Are we just not hip to the new slang, guys and gals? As the "kids" say, Crank that Chester and Batman that Ho (huh?!)

Hello. What's up?

We hope you guys and gals had a wonderful Valentine's Day. And we certainly hope you and your "honey" were bumping some Chester French at least once during your romantic evening. And if you don't got a "honey" to speak of, well we hope one day our music will bring you and a prospective partner together. Because that's what Chester Town is all about. Cannn ya dig it?

Okay, now that we're done channeling Barry White, we'll move on to an update on the band. We're still rehearsing for our big show at SXSW (which, btw, I hope you all attend)... We still are shuffling around schedules and figuring out exactly WHAT that show will be at SXSW but you guys will hear all that info first.

Chester French Attends Teyana Taylor Showcase! | News

Google Me Baby!

Last night we had the great fortune of attending our labelmate Teyana Taylor's showcase in LA. It was an intimate performance for label people and a few members of the press and Teyana rocked it. Her stage presence was incredible and the crowd reaction was amazing.

Right after the show we tried to get Yaneley (the president of Star Trak) to pose for a picture for the blog, but at first she refused:

But we convinced her in the end... so everyone, meet Yaneley:

After the show we hit up the studio with Pharrell (who's in town) and we hung out with him and Bustah Rhymes (woo hah) for the rest of the night. After some hilarious moments w/ Busta Bus, Pharrell played the NERD record for us.

Cot DAMN. It's incredible. Star Trak is KILLING it in the '08, yall.

Hopefully we can let you guys know which shows we're playing at SXSW soon. Thank you guys again for all the support... keep spreading the good word and things gon' pop off very, very soon!
